Clan of Xymox - A Day (80s post punk, dark wave VIDEO)
Clan of Xymox, also known as simply Xymox, are a Dutch rock band formed in 1981 best known as pioneers of dark wave music. Clan of Xymox featured a trio of singer-songwriters – Ronny Moorings, Anka Wolbert, and Pieter Nooten – and gained success in the 1980s, releasing their first two albums on 4AD, before releasing their third and fourth albums on Wing Records and scoring a hit single in the United States.[8] The band is still active, continuing to tour and release records with Moorings as the sole remaining original member.

In the second episode of our series Under the Influence, we examine the late-70s ska revival in the UK, a movement built upon the fusion of punk rock and traditional ska. Led by the Specials, we look at how the cultural climate of the time period in the UK inspired the founding of 2 Tone Records and how that led to the ska movement in the 80s and 90s.
Under the Influence looks into some of the most important music scenes of our time, exploring the people, bands, and styles that changed the course of music forever. Kas Product - Never Come Back (80s cold wave)
Quel taglio d'occhi insieme alla pettinatura asimmetrica di capelli e il video in bianco e nero mi fannno apprezzare tutta la bellezza di Mona Soyoc, cantante del duo Cold Wave francese... apprezzatelo anche voi.
Il gruppo si costituisce a Nancy nel gennaio 1980. Dopo il rilascio di Mind e dell'EP Play Loud, la band ha collaborato con i Marquis de Sade nel 1981, facendosi così notare dalla EMI, con cui firmano un contratto.
A febbraio 1982 esce Try Out, un 33 giri fatta di musica punk, elettronica e spunti di new wave. Con questo album iniziano il loro primo tour internazionale.
Nel 1983 ha pubblicato un secondo album, By Pass e nel 1986 Ego Eye. Il gruppo si scioglie nel 1990.

Beat Direction - Ska Au Go Go! (80s mod ska)
Beat Direction, a totally unique band in their homeland of Montreal, Canada. Singer/song writer Bob Andrew's stylish sounds were Hi-Lo Records first release from an overseas band. The EP "Long Distance Beat" was released in 1984, with a sound characterised by Andrew's electric sitar. Original artwork was also created by Andrew himself. "Ska - Au Go - Go" was originally released as a couplet with Squire's "Does Stephanie Know", Hi-Lo's limited edition promo flexi given away with the fanzines "In The Crowd" in the UK and "Whaam!" in the U.S. It was later included upon the Hi-Lo compilation "It's A Mod Mod World".

Born in 1984 in the county of West Midlands in England following the second wave of the mod revival, and take their name from the song Making Time, the second single from We Are Paintermen the mod band The Creation.
In 1985 they released their first studio album Rhythm And Soul produced by Pat Collier, producer of Katrina and the Waves, from which come the individual Here is my Number and Feels Like It's Love, all published on Countdown Records label. They are characterized by a strongly pop sound, like many other bands of the late mod revival, but always linked to sound black as the soul and rhythm and blues.
The following year they released their second and last album No Lumps Of Fat or Guaranteed Gristle, who does not receive the success of the previous work, leading to the dissolution of the group.
After the Makin 'Time, bassist Martin Blunt founded in 1988, the Charlatans, along with singer Tim Burgess, singer and guitarist Mark Gounden form a group called The Upper Fift powerpop, singer and organist Fay Hallam form the The Prime Movers together Graham Day of The Prisoners, and subsequently the Fay Hallam Trinity, his solo project.
